Supervision for Counselors

Are you looking for a counseling supervisor?

So, you’ve graduated and earned your counseling degree – congratulations! One of the most important stages in a counselor’s development comes next, and as you continue your counseling training, supervision will be a requirement if you are pursuing independent licensure.

If you are here, you may have been searching for a supervisor for LPC supervision in Kansas and are looking to gain independent licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). You may have also come across this page if you are seeking a supervisor or counseling practice that understands how to integrate Christianity into counseling.

Finding the Right Counseling Supervisor can be Challenging

One of the pieces of advice I (Dr. Elijah Lee) give to my students when they are looking for a supervisor for their practicum and/or internship site is that they should interview their supervisor. Some questions may include:

  • What modalities do you practice from?

  • What supervision model do you use (yes there are models).

  • Can you bring your growth areas as well as successes to your supervisor?

  • Do you feel comfortable with him/her, and are your personalities compatible?

The answers to the first two questions are found in the FAQ section below; however, if you are looking to see if we are a good fit, the first consultation is free for supervisees looking for supervision with me.

Options for Supervision for LPCs

During my tenure as a faculty supervisor in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, I observed that while some supervisees require external supervision for a site they are already affiliated with, others seek a training/mentorship experience within a private practice. Hope Healing is a private practice founded on the values of counseling ministry, and we have positions available within our practice where supervision is included for counselors as they work with us.

Outside Supervision

If you are already working at a site (community mental health agency, hospital, etc) and require supervision as you practice therapy, this is one option. At times, if you would like a secondary supervisor, this can also be done fairly easily.

Working with Hope Healing Counseling

The training you receive after graduating from counseling school will shape you as both a clinician and a person. Hope Healing Counseling offers limited positions to LPCs looking to pursue LCPC licensure at our practice, where supervision is included as you work with us.

Common Questions

  • I practice from attachment-based modalities such as AEDP & EFT, while taking seriously the culture of the client, including their faith tradition.

  • My style is relationally based (attachment-based), much like my counseling style. I adopt roles like teacher, consultant, and counselor in the supervision process.

  • Individual sessions (about an hour) are $100, and if available, group supervision is $50 per person for 1.5 hours. Counselors hired by Hope Healing are offered supervision at no charge.

  • Dr. Elijah Lee holds a PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in KS, and a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC). He is currently the department chair and an associate professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling department at Huntington University.
